Food brings friends and families closer...Because you can't email a home-delivered meal
Chef Marcia Newlands has always enjoyed cooking - her cherry vanilla birthday cakes and chocolate wafer icebox cakes for midnight snacking were legendary among her college dorm mates. Her family fondly recalls her first whole wheat bread - it could have been used as a doorstop! Her skills have improved over the intervening years, and her repertoire has expanded. In Austin, Texas, prior to attending law school, Chef Marcia worked at the city's first French bakery, a popular bar-and-grill, and a gourmet Italian restaurant. Eventually she attended cooking classes at the Culinary Institute of America's Greystone campus in Napa, and the world famous Le Cordon Bleu Academy of Culinary Art in Paris. Ultimately, her passion for cooking and great food competed with her career as a successful environmental attorney. After 20 years of practicing law, Chef Marcia decided to make the jump from legal torts to savory tarts. She started The Savory Gourmet in 2005, where she and her staff now create fabulous food for her home-delivered organic meal service, and her popular catered events.
Marcia is a member of the Women Chefs and Restaurateurs (WCR), the International Association of Culinary Professionals (IACP), and the United States Personal Chef Association (USPCA).
